Also it is worth remembering that Defoe sometimes struggles with discipline, this season he is the most booked forward in the Premiership. The last thing England need in the hostile environment that is the Millennium stadium is a man sent off within first 30mins.

Owen - no goals in league so far. No goals for England this season so far.

Defoe - 3 league goals, goal on England debut.

Facts speak for themselves  Come in number 10, your time is up.

I did not classify anything as a season. I said what had be done during this season so far

If Owen was doing the business there would be no debate in the 1st place. But he is not. And he was out of form during the Euros as well - there is no doubt about that either. An in-form, confident, goalscoring Michael Owen has not been seen for a good 18 months I would say.

Michael and Shrek have a good understanding that was really showing promise during the Euro's but Defoe is on better form.
I'd give Defoe the nod and if it's not working bring Michael on.

Did he not score his 28th goal for England @ SJP this season?

Talking of doing the business when was Defoe's last goal spurs? About 400mins ago i.e about the same amount of time Owen has been on the pitch this year for Real. Also Owen was the highest scoring Englishman* last year in Prem.

*= That is willing to play for England

I would play Defoe in most games but he aint ready for the Millennium stadium just yet.

    :dunce: yeah he did. oops.

The service at the moment is poor at Spurs. And he is getting a bit miffed I can see that. We've had to button down the hatches last 2 away games so he had no service. But when he does get it he will score
I really don't think the Welsh would be able to wind him up, he's too good for that and playing in too good a team.
Incidentally i thought his 2-footed challenge at the weekend was fair and won the ball (especially after Weir had swung an elbow seconds before). I fail to see why the hoohaa over it

He is one of the most booked players in the Prem & before he joined Spurs he was lashing out all the time in the nationwide league.

Lets play Owen for 60mins see how the things are going then put Defoe on if need be.

Was it only me + Pike who backed Owen?

Owen is now showing his class, while poor Defoe got a rollicking last week from Jackie S & didnt even start at the weekend & now the not so prolific Bellemy has scored more Prem goals than him this season.
