Im looking for a new sound card. Prefrebley an external one as im using a laptop. Im currently using a lexicon alpha but it just doesnt quite cut it. i want to incorporate my productions into my mix's, is this where firewire comes into play? does anyone know of a decent sound car for a decent price. And also ur thoughts on the best midi controller to be used with cubase/reason.

Firewire is just an alternative to USB

some people think FW is better
    some think USB is better

as for Midi controller, probs best to start with something like an Oyxgen 8 v2.....about £70

    Soundcard wise:

    Edirol UA25
    M-Audio Fast Track Pro

around £130...Id personally go for the Edirol as from experience m-audio stuff is a bit flaky

i see. So maybeys the one i have will do. ..to use say..ableton in a mix do i just connect my souncard from lineout into a channel on my mixer with a phono lead? IM using a e-mu xboard 25 atm with cubse which isnt actually mine so im having to give it back soon. Ive got a korg k25 which i will use for busting out some chords etc it also has a handy x+y joystick but im after more of a mixing desk 8channels aybs more for full hands on control. will look into the edirol soundcard. i bought some edirol ma-15d power moniters and ive been well impressed 4 the price
