Apparently a whole new DJ booth set up down stairs according to a few mates.

The DJ booth has been done out, its a lot more open and they have taken away that door to it which made everyone fall into the booth in the dark... Think theres now a couple of steps up to the booth from the dancefloor.

It's completely changed, theyve ripped out the seats either side of the DJ booth that go along the walls, there's a speaker stack in the corner with railings round it, the floor is no longer raised infrunt of the booth so the whole floor right back to the step up infrunt of the bar with the divide is all one level. Theres a smoke machine in the ceiling and a huge camera behind the DJ booth...the camera is the only downside! Apart from that it looks quality, bigger spach to fill though.

It's a shame with the Cosmic, it was once a wkd little underground hot spot. When it's busy, the atmospheres brilliant in there. The wrong people seem to have been behind it for too long unfortunately, it's crying out for a keen set of promoters & Club Manager with a little bit of a business head on him/her. Given that, place could be ticking again within a few months.

I popped past the other month on a Friday night when a few mates were playing, downstairs completely closed off, 4 doormen stood outside scratching their arse (probably on about £15ph), 1 lad on the till & 2 bar staff serving the half dozen people that were upstairs. Madness :bonkers:

In other news no more Camp David is the Norththere still used enjoy playing there on sundays back in the day with jonney.

Always fun even though the sound /booth was worse than a benwell charvers home setup.

Cosmics never been a cool little undergroud spot when it got renamed and "redone" its been shit. Look at the decor or lack of it. Call it "industrail" if you like Skev but its fucking rotten, its like dancing in a sewer.

Its been overated for far too long, got clever and started being arsey with he punters, now its on the way down.

To be fair it has taken a step in the right direction and Mark, the bloke who's in charge knows what he's on about it seems like he's just recently been allowed to screw the nut and change some things. That's the impression I get anyway. Say what you want but it does look a lot more like a proper respectable club now instead of Skev & Donnelys MDF and tacky leather 'nice' fittings.

Funny you should say that Proudy, there's a line of blue light fittings across the front of the club, perhaps its a subliminal warning.

The whole camera/security/big brother thing for me is the only things that's really letting the place down now for me but I suppose thats just a view of the world from behind the ket ring.

Also, speaking of Camp David - Has anyone noticed it's now called 'Eazy Street' and is a cabaret bar...

It seems to be more a case of the fact there's finally been the cash to fix some of the problems that have been there for a long time.

Nobody working directly for the club has been out advertising or even mentioning the changes till now.

Obviously, if you're a promoter with a night on, then you're likely to mention any improvements to the venue as part of your promo.

That's really useful information, but to implement it would involve either a time machine, or enough cash to do an entire reboot.

In the current financial climate I think it's safer to hold out hope for the DeLorean.

camera behind the dj booth? step too far really, thought one of the percs of being a top dj was that you were able to smoke snort and get noshed off in the comfort of the booth without anyone batting an eye lid. wheres the rock n roll in having a camera watching your every move!
