Whats happened to..? Hi All, Hope your all getting in the weekend mood as i sure am! I hate to mention ANOTHER rival club (my last post was about that New club Point in Sunderland!), but as i got a GREAT response from the question about it in my last post i thought i'd see if anyone knew what's happening about the Sugar Shack @ The Empire at Middlesborough..? :spangled: See the thing is as like most of you active clubbers in this forum i don't like to just go to one venue (Promise is GREAT of course!) but i like to frequent other venues seeing the best hard dance and trance DJ's that are playing around the North East. -Which seems to be getting LESS and LESS. The last time i went to Sugarshack was when Armin Van Buuren was on around 6 Months ago and the place was only half full I have been keeping an eye on their website www.theempire.co.uk but they don't seem to have any decent DJ's on till Roger Sanchez 16th December - Even then he ain't Hard Dance 'n Trance!! According to their website they are doing something called 'Teatro' with Rob Whiteside for the next few weeks. What type of music does he play house? They also seem to be doing another Friday Night Called 'Night 54' and 'Love Funkyy'. Does this mean that they have abandoned their 'Hard Dance and Trance' roots? Its a real shame when a big club like that simply doesn't book the big name DJ's anymore Is this because the are trying to diversify and pull in a different crowd? Anyway i look forward to you views on this club
im sure the trance director tht frquents this baord can answer that for you nah it hink over the summer it decided not to pull out all the stops wiht it been festivals holidy time etc so held a differnt niht in its place im sure theyhavea few tricks up there sleeve seemss ashame cos the shack is class i ws a armin and it was total class night the atmosphere was great just like wen oakey was on this year
Sugarshacks not had anyone on recently because its gone monthly because of all the people in Teesside liking shite music. Which is why you now have, Teatro, Love Funky, Studio 54 and Sugarshack on Seperate fridays.
I don't know? All i know is that when i used to go they'd have the lastest and hottest DJ's around ATM. Well lets just hope in the next few months they bring back some of the 'harder DJ's' to the scene and not that FUNKY CRAP!! Shacks always been a house night then it started getting a few other djs on mainly trance, the only harder Djs its ever really booked were Fergie & Lashes. I can guarentee they wont and dont want to put on any hard DJ's they could do that as everyone round here has shite music taste and seems to either like Hardhouse, Hardstyle or Rnb or "Funky" house. But they dont want to go so low as trying hardhouse at the shack in an attempt to bring people through the doors, hence going monthly so they can just get on djs in the style they want. Id rather it go monthly that have hardhouse on there. The Empire makes enough money off its other nights anyways "Play" on a saturday has all 3 floors open and is rammed every saturday so makes it alot of money and apparently "NME" on a mondays busy aswell, the other 3 weekends on a friday when it wont be a sugarshack will probably not be too busy but at least it caters for what the demand is in Teesside at the moment. Its good buisness sense for them to put on the nights they have as at the end of the day its a buisness and if these nights can make enough money to get top quality djs on there on a monthly basis then i cant see Barry being to dsgruntled.
