    What's better?

I'm being lazy here, had a quick look for reviews but can't find anything conclusive.
So, out of Pioneer CDJ 1000 and CDJ 400, which would you go for? The prices are massively different but is it reflected in the product? I'm crossing over to the digital age.

The 400s are great for home use, especially given the MIDI functionality and USB features. I've played with a pair and can't fault them to be honest. Same with the denon equivalents.

I'm surprised that Pioneer haven't released a MK4 1000 with midi interface, although it looks like they're going that way with their mixers.

I'd go with the 400s. The 1000s are probably overkill.

totally depends on your situation mate, obviously the 1000 is the better deck but is it worth the extra money (and its a fair bit of money).and have you got the extra money available?

personally i'd opt for either a 400 or an 800 they are just as good for bedroom/ household use and moreso saying as pioneer have just upped there prices.

I have a pair of 400's and love em. Although if you have the money available and nothing better to spend it on go for the 1000's. The 1000's seem more serious to me where as the 400's are more fun, this maybe because I piss on with mine at home and usually mix sensibly elsewhere.

If your heading over to 'digital' then why go with CDJ's? .... If your using a laptop in combination with your CDJ's and mixer then why not buy a single unit (So your comfortable with CDJ's).

CDJ's are pricey fuckers, and for the price of a single one you could buy a full laptop setup, so i'd think long and hard before buying a pair of them, given all the other options out there.
