What program is good for monitoring the heat of a laptop? Also, what is a safe and/or unsafe heat? A friend has just got a laptop and it seems to get hot quickly and she's bugging me about it.
Cant help you about the heat. All i can say is my laptop gets very hot but runs perfect. The fan tends to get noisy after a few months but then i just clean all the dust and fluff out of the fan and heat exchanger using a can of compressed air and cotton buds and it works fine again. Hope this info helps her. I know tthere are programs to download that monitor cpu temp etc but i never bothered with them.
Re: What program is good for monitoring the heat of a laptop? Try using speed fan or mbm5 to monitor cpu and hdd temps.. although to be honest most of the heat will be from the battery..
I read that it's a very good idea to get a 'board' of some type to put the laptop on that allows the heat to be released rather than sitting it on your lap or on a bed/pillow. Could this have been old advise for older laptops or is it still a good idea? I've used mbm before but was thinking since it's a laptop, heat might be way different.
it allows air to circulate underneath. You dont need a special table though, just get one of them tray with beanbags stuck to the bottom like your granny used to have. Thats what i plan to do! wooh! i sound so overly enthusiastic.
