What is the point of bail?

I know it gets people out of custody and all that, but..

I was watching the news on jacko and how he paid the $3 million to get himself out of jail.

Now, any ordinary person couldn't even begin to scrap that kind of money together and would have had to stick it out in jail.

A crime is a crime, why should someone who has money be given different treatment to anyone else.

I know its a way for the courts to make a quick buck but the law is the law, and everyone is suppose to be treated equally, or so they say..

We all know money gives you influence but that's hardly promoting a fair, honest society is it.

I he is guilty of this crime he'll probably get away with it anyway using money. Out of court settlement or good lawyers etc.

I think it's a disgrace in cases like these that bail is granted.

I agree in innocent till proven guilty but if they have sufficient evidence to charge him and go to court he should be remanded in custody for his safety and the safety of others around him.

If Ian Huntley had the money would he have been granted bail.

at the end of the day no decent parent wud willingly let their 12 yr old child sleep over at the house of a 45 yr old amn who had already had sex allegations against him!!!!!

If infact he is guilty what you need to remember in all of this is we are dealing with America and american people, nothing is as clear as it seems with them they are all more interested in making money anyway they can than anything else even if that involves loved ones

the attack alledgedly took place 3 mths ago...the 12 yr old son was apparently plied with a mix of wine & drugs b4 jackson mollested him....they have a new family car & a new flat to live in but as soon as jackson said said he wasn't buying them anything else he mollested their kid!!!

bail doesn't work like that, it is relative to your income and how high the risk of you running or causing further harm is percieved to be.

in cases where vitcim/witness intimidation may occur bail usually is not granted.

That's one view mate, but it HAS to been investigated. The police obviously believe he is guilty.

Your right Jeff, he's innocent until proven guilty, I like his music etc, but if he is guilty he should be locked up for a very long time in a dirty prison
