    What is a proper Geordie?

(will someone clear this up for me!) :)

Is it just people who come from Newcastle who can be called Geordies, or does it cover those from other areas like Sunderland, etc?

the hoi poloi, anything north of the tyne lacking any traces of class... Usually found working in McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Argos... ocassionally one will do their parents proud and get a job at fenwicks.

Anything from the sunderland durham, washington area is considered a mackem - they usually don't even have jobs :D The only people with any money in the north east are the foreigners who've moved here to exploit the poor.

Mostly all sound the same to me although the Mackems have a stronger twang.

Totally agree with Joes foriegners policy though ;)

Please don't tar the Durhamites with the same brush as people from Sunderland and Washington! ;) We're of completely different breeding.....and no, I'm not interbred!! hehe!

ahhh....yes, Langley Park...the glue sniffers mecca! What a lovely place!

I agree with you on this one. Im from Co Durham and Ive never been called a mackem and would be really insulted if I was. Mackems are people from Sunderland and Geordies are people from Newcastle. Theres no name for the rest of us
