donno if its been on before, but i bet the firefighters are a bit pissed off now, didn't the nurses just get a 10% rise the other day. ( see they should have just asked nicly )

i don't have an opinion on the subject coz i don't know enough about it, i think you need information before making an informed decision.....................omg how geeky does that sound:eek:

Yup i know what ya mean, the army guys in those green goddesses were down next to my house the other day, putting out a bin fire, they looked like something from fawlty towers, water going everywhere but on the fire, however, i do admire them, could you imagine doing a job of that importance without being fully trained, and the equipment they have is minimal, i just hope it all gets sorted out soon before it gets beyond a joke.

Scary isnt it, thing is, like you briefly mentioned above, apparently the country couldnt afford to pay there demands, but it has just been anounced that the NHS have been offered a 10% pay-rise????? Why they say offered is beyond me, i mean, can you see them saying `no, its ok thanks, ill just struggle away with what i earn now`, lol

i don't agree with the strikes but i think they should get paid a bit more than what they do................

i wudn't mind being on their wages........i have 2 jobs & am still in a shit load of debt.....

some of the firemen are complaining that they mite have to get a 2nd job because they can't afford to keep their 100 grand house  , 2 cars, a wife & 3 kids!!!!

also the family holiday home may have to b sold!!!!

i agree that they should get a bit more because now they r being asked to b paramedics!!!!

but howay man fellas!!! - they r taking the piss..........i iwsh to fooking god i earned any where near the amount they do & if a fire is going to cause any amount of danger to the firemen they let the property burn down rather than the firemen risking their lives!!!!!

so they should play fair & stop being so selfish...........

    :)

    strikes

Yeah, i totally agree with you on this one, fair enough they do risk their lives with what they do, but a the minute they r risking other peoples lives with these strikes, which in the end seem to be a waste of time.

You get people supporting them at the minute, but will it still be that when their taxes go up to pay 4 their pay rise?

Sorry mate but i dont agree with that, if there is people trapped in a burning building, i believe they WOULD risk there life to go in and save them.

But the bit about holiday home and stuff, LOL, they do deserve more money, like u say, i also work 9 hrs a day then dj from 8pm-2am four nights a week and still have loads of debt.

Will it ever be resolved, someones going to have to give in first, personally i cant either giving in yet

    Re: strikes

This is gonna sound sick, but it would be good to see the governments reaction if on their top people were trapped in a fire or something and the army peeps couldnt do as much as the professonals could, what would they do then?????

they knew how much they were gonna get paid before they took the job, and the risks involved, so they should end the strike.
If you dont like it, quit your job, thats what everyone else would do!

    Good point!!
Their faces would be a picture, their views may well change if that happened!!

Just to add, what about the nurses pay rise, someone mentioned it before, what does everyone think of that?

i agree that if they r now gonna b classed as paramedics then they should poss get more pay but not the amount that they want.........

i wish i got paid that amount 4 the hours they work!!!

i have 2 jobs & am still in debt.........

a fireman came out claiming that he'd have to get another job to survive...........

if he hadn't had a 100 plus grand house, 2/3 cars, a wife, 3 kids & a holiday home abroad then he wudn't have had to get a 2nd job!!!!

if when they r called out to a fire if their is going to be a significant risk to the fire fighters then they let it burn down!!!!

I have relative who is a fire fighter & the only stories that r ever told is of when they scare the lil old grannies at zebra crossings by putting the sirens on when on their way to the chippy or bookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Re: What Do You Think?

Things change, the economy changes, they probably wouldnt have demanded this had everyone elses wages not been soaring up, look at other professionals, footballers, doctors, police. its crazy and quite frankly its going no-where, its like a big chest match, a case of whos gonna back down first, could you imagine the re-percussions if the surgeons went on strike, cos thats probs next if the fireman do get this pay rise, even though the nhs has just been given 10%

I personally think thats fucking shocking and dont take this the wrong way, i am not trying to defend that, but who doesnt abouse there position in some way, look at the police, they see a red traffic light n put there lights on, once there through they switch it str8 off, what would happen if they went through n crashed into another vehicle n someone died, would they get done???

also thered be no fireman to cut them out, lol (sorry, i had to get that in)

I have no sympathy for anyone who strikes. They should get paid more but this is the wrong way to go about it IMHO.

I think the Gov' will win this battle and then reduce the rights of the firemen to strike in the future.

i agree with the nurses raise as they get paid no where near the amount they should 4 the job they do................

they r never recognised or praised when they on a regular basis help save lives & on occasion risk their own lives 4 the benefit of a patient!!!!!!!!!

this raise 4 the nurses has only started to bring them in line with the rest of the public sector & they do a very important job!!!!

if u were ill in hospital then without nurses who wud look after u?

they knew that they would be taking a job in the public sector, and so would be entitled to a pay rise in line with inflation. if they didnt realise this, then they should have done a bit more research b4 taking the job! i know i would!
footballers wages re a totally different thing altogether.
