What do you think of the uk club market?

Answer as given by Mauro Picotto:

Answer: " The Uk still has some good clubs and many good clubbers BUT the UK market is in danger of disppearing up it's ass! The people and clubs are divided by their musical genre, with each genre thinking they're better or more intelligent than the other! This is seperating the people soon the genres will get smaller and smaller until maybe their is not enough people in the club to pay the DJs the flyers and the club will shut! I play around the world and i see a differnent attitude for the music.... Dance music is Dance music, who cares if a progressive DJ plays a chill out record or a Trance Dj plays a Techno record! If some clubs and clubbers don't open their mind to new styles i'm sure in the future they have no genre to argue about!

Sorry to say it but i think the man has a point

He has a point, people are getting to categoric with their dance music, i admit im guilty of the same!

Problem is if Proggy djs, trance djs etc start opening up their taste in music then they loose what there renound for. Look at oakie having a go at breakbeat, dear god!

Cream used to be trance/chill out/funky in the mid-late nineties then they started specialising and then they went bust!

Lets hope GK doesnt go the same way

Got to agree with you and him! Clubbers have become so serious about which particular genre they are into, and which particular style within that genre. Lighten up and just have a good night out! Clubbing is supposed to be for fun, not an in-depth study of music style.

I too must agree with this, i remeber when promise jumped on the progresive bandwagon, it almost went out of business, i think it is doing much better now, with a broader range of lineups.

    personally can't stand genre fascists.

    HOUSE IS A FEELING!

would be nice to see a few peeps follow up what they say about genre not mattering and venture upstairs now and then. There's too much of a split in Promise sometimes, not just UK clubs! :D

I know what he's on about like! I admit I do like the 'harder' side of music these days! But also love floaty 'girlie' type trance too! I even have my house moments but not when I'm at promise!
If I have a house moments it's on a Sat...Fri is for main room only I'm affraid!

I can see what Picotto is talkin about - personally I like all kinds of music but with regards to Promise I don't like goin upstairs because I don't fit in, I like it downstairs where everyone is just goin mad. I'm probably being a bit stereotypical here but they all seem a bit too snobby and just watch you when you walk in the room (paranoia :p) and then carry on posing and lookin ra ra like.

I'm only jokin about the last bit but u know what I mean - don't start on me :D

I think a bit of paranoia may be creeping in. When I have been upstairs, which I will do more now it has been done out, everyone is really friendly if you just talk to them!
