and loads more too, with the basic substance being to use Firefox over IE.

It's anyone's choice which browser to use, but it's always the IE users who post threads about problems with spyware etc...

    If you're using XP - you can't.

M$ integrated IE with explorer (the program that shows you the nice little windows when you're browsing your computers files etc), making it essential to the system and impossible to remove.

IE does no harm if you don't use it. Go to Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> Add/Remove Windows Components and uncheck IE, that'll temporarily hide it. Also, make sure Firefox (or whatever) is set as default browser. Also use a program like SafeXP or similar to turn off anything else you can. Then e-mail Micro$oft to tell them that you are going to do so much damage by shoving IE down their jap's eye that they'll be pissing sprinkles for a week.

    That should do it. :)

Another firefox user here. I do still use IE from time to time, but thats because firefox is still restrictive in some respects. Turn ActiveX off for anyone who prefers things bug free ;)

Also, Ad-aware 6Pro has a feature called Ad-watch that alerts u if ur going to a site thats got bugs, and closes the window before it loads... very handy!

MoS's hosts file is pretty useful too: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Webroot and GIANT do the same job, but you have to pay for them ;)

Only problem I have with Firefox is getting housecall to work properly... seems to be a problem with Sun Java RTE...
