    Web Address pointing pointing problem....

Asking on behalf of a colleague, I have sorted alot of the problems but there is still one problem...

the domain name registration and hosting are all through the same company - www.123-reg.co.uk

The thing is, when i type in the web address (www.fayeherondesigns.co.uk) you get a "you are not authorised to view this page" error, which is weird, as all file permissions are set up correctly.

if you type www.fayeherondesigns.co.uk/home.htm though, it works ok. (the page is just a holding page, not the atual site lol)

SO basically I need to make sure that that is the page that opens when the address is typed, but there doesnt seem to be an option to make it the start page.

    Any suggestions?

Well, the webserver tells the browser what to look for but as you say that is usually index.html but you can change it, we use index.htm then index.php.

    depends how the servers configured...

whatever they set as "default" pages it'll look for...

    home.htm, home.html, index.htm, index.html bla.........usually acceptable...but depends how server is setup aye
