well to cut a long story short got a laptop a while ago already had vista installed, i no fuck all really bout computers and i had a mess about with it recently fucked it now i need vista disc to reinstall it
the disc does'nt have to be 'legit', you can use any copy with any code, so long as your code is valid for the version you ar using, you'll be fine. as far as im aware the mininova link i posted would work fine.
So if I buy a laptop as I'm planning to and it comes with vista preinstalled but with no disc I'll still get a code allowing me to use a copy if I ever need to reinstall?
It should come with a disk.. probably a manufacturers disk that is only compatible with that laptop though. Oh, and the codes are usually supplied with the disk as far as I'm aware..
No. You WILL get a copy installed but as it's an OEM it's tied to that equipment and installation. We get tons of new Pc's at work all with the OEM stickers on - but none of them are ACTUAL codes u can use. i've tried. lots of times. unless u get a seperate Windows disk and Key, most are supplied by the manufacturers and pre install with recovery images
what he said, u get a master cd they (used to call em that years ago), basically pre rigged up copy of windows setup for that particular pc.
