youd think so but i cant find it anywhere and cant remember getting one with it. ive got two of whats called an 'acer blank recovery dvd' but it just looks like a blank dvd

im just running that avast now on a thorough scan, reformatting is the very last of my options

your recovery disk will take it back to how u got it out of the box - i.e. back to factory defaults - i'd back up your files before doing this as it wipes the hard disk.

but it'll do the job - should be bootable too.

ah right with them kind of disks you have to have em in the machine when its switched on dont you ?

no wonder, i just put it in when i was already up and running.

ive got an old SATA HD i can connect too so i can back everything i need up. as i say that avast is still running at the min, ran that stinger thing too but im not really sure it done owt, it scanned then closed, didnt really give me much info about it.... hopefully i wont have to start again like

    cheers

i dont even trust them fuckers!

i re-booted my machine yesterday and it seems like it's 200 percent more efficent than it was before

i just tend to keep everything like music and important documents on a seperate harddrive/partition to the OS and reboot that, just means that it takes MUCH less time, and means i can just format the beast every 4-5 month once the spyware has taken hold. i'd rather do that than fanny on with AV programs, which in turn cost money/subscription fee's etc... bollocks to that.

iexplore.exe does my nut in, cannit get rid of that for love nor money when you 'catch' it.

well, avast found a trojan virus and a few others and moved them to a virus chest but its still done nowt of note. that killbox cant close whatever it is either...so it looks like im going to have to format it. id rather not use xp again after using vista but it seems ive got no choice, in the time its took me to write this, firefox has crashed three times. and ive updated it.

im not having this like. 'hasta la' vista.
