Virus's Can your computer be more suseptable to virus's than someone elses?? :spangled: Ive had 3 virus's in the same amount of weeks, whereas Stephen's or ma dad's computer never seem to get them. I use AVG virus software which I update everyday and a firewall. Does it really just depend on what sites you visit, or are certain computers like magnets to the dam things??? Btw, Ive managed to get rid of em easy enuf, its just a pain in the arse.
Re: Virus's every machine is different. see cos u get viruses from emails, dodgy files etc....so they dont do the same stuff on their pc. and if they use diff AV software, operating system, firewalls etc.. its all if's n but's. keep ya virus scanner up2date - keep windows up2date u shud be ok
depends on the kind of stuff you download , like if u use kazzaa etc a lot there's usually loads of virus ridden stuff kicking about !! like i got an "evolution" copy of norton internet security 2004 for testing purposes and to install it i had to un install the old version , leaving all my defences weak so half way thru installing it i had to put the new key in , so running the key tool ( which was packed with trojans / virus's etc ) i totally infected my pc !! ...fidds...
Yes defo. Whenever Microsoft release an OS (especially XP) it quickly becomes apparent that they are full of security holes that people can exploit whenever your online. You should run Windows Update (normally in your start menu), let it scan your PC then download and install any critical updates it suggests. If you couple this with a decent antivirus program, also kept up to date with it's own updater, you should be OK.
Cheers you guys I use BigFix which normally advises me when there are critical updates for my comp. I do use SoulSeek alot tho, so its probs that
u wont get viruses off mp3's rach. ur safe there. you use xp? run windows update and let it install ALL the critical updates start > programs...its on there
i've got one at the min which keeps bringing random internet pages up without me doing out, cant get rid of it either can any 1 help?
go to nortons or mcafee's website, there will be a virus library - that will tell u how to get rid of it. also, boot to safe mode and run the virus scanner there. i think we need to make some sticky threads on virus cleaning and spyware removal as the same types of questions and answers are always cropping up in here...
as far as I know the Bloodhound exploit is nowt too major, and it's usually spyware related. AdAware gets rid of it, so I imagine Spybot or Webroot's SpySweeper will too. Fidds, I think you mean "Evaluation" copy...not "Evolution" Always scan pirate software and associated keygens before installing them. I would say it's fairly rare thay they will be infected though, at least in my few years of experience, I have had only one infected file. Your computer can be more susceptable than others, yes - but its not the machines fault, it's the human element that causes the problems!
