Virus, or is my computer fucked?

Apparently, lsass.exe keeps shutting down, thus restarting my computer.

Also, my internet connection seems to be fucked. It works for around 5 minutes, then stops. Webpages wont work, cant download anything, etc, etc.

During these 'non-working' times, MSN keeps telling me that it seems I'm behind a firewall which is preventing me accessing the itnernet, which I'm not?

    Anyone?

Your connection stops working because the virus is attacking (try to infect) other peeps pcs so your isp cuts you off.

I've just reinstalled XP on my old mans PC. Installed SP1 and Norton AV. Connected to the net to download latest virus defs and instantly got hit by 3 viruses. Bastards.
XP keeps shutting down lsass.exe but Norton didn't report a Sassy virus??

i had this the other day...

when it runs, disconnect your modem from the telephone line, to prevent it from dialing, then press cont.alt.del to get the task manager up.

    then force close lsass.exe

then go to find file program in your start menu, and find it, then delete it...

    should do the trick...

other option is to run a deep-custom scan on adaware then view the log, to check thats the only programme thats causing this virus to kick in... then repeat the process as above to get rid of any dodgy exe files.

    hope that helps

This is what happens if you don't patch your pc/have a firewall/have a virus scanner. Any of them would of stopped it.

Sorted. I logged onto the net on my (secure) PC and downloaded Norton Intelligent Updater which installed AV without going online. Also got a hold of the latest rolled security update from that nice Mr Gates. The more security you can install before going online the better.
