Dont understand why they cant just run a fucking cable over the road, said they may send out a "spotter"

Has any1 else actually had or heard of this problem?, am sure there all on bluddy pillfies those engineers, how can they miss out a fucking street.

As Telewest they ceased 'new' cabling to a set boundry. With new cables to new builds/estates only.

Dunno if its still the same under Virgin, but I did always think it would be a reat pisser to be on the other side of the line!

    Unlucky!

Could get friendly with someone over the road and run a coax across the street!

only certain areas have cabled access. it depends on the state of the road/ground its running through whether it can be placed there. had this problem at my old address, the next street had cable but ours didnt because there was nowhere to put the cable.

you can still get good deals through a bt phoneline, just not as good through cable line

its £120 to get your line reconnected by BT if your provider disconnects you, but then that means you have to be in a 12mth contract with them. however the post office do line connections too, i think its £100 and you arent in any contract with them either

Seen a canny deal, think if the BT lines installed already, i can pay £10.50 a month n a get weekend calls to landlines free n virgin will run the internet though that line.

What a fucking clart on man, its 2009 whats gan on  wires!

We moved to a relatively new development (Oct 05) last May. We were having problems with the shared arial so we looked into getting virgin. We were told by the phone-monkey that there was no service in our road as they can't put cable into new developments, they can only go back and install it 10 years later. Surely that is bollocks?

Virgin is gash for the simple fact they cap you if you go over the 'fair usage' limit between 3pm-9pm. thats a fucking shambles if you ask me.

i think we're dossing off the whole virgin package next month and getting sky back :)

does anyone know if sky BB is any good? it's gotta be better than Virgin.

 ana what u mean, was the same when a started with dell a had to handle everyones problems on the phone at first, then moved onto repair etc. Good job though, sumthin that will always come in handy.

I agree with sky being better, not keen on browsing channels via virgin it's slow as shit, was the same when telewest had it aswell. Think i'll just be going to BT & runnin my virgin broadband through that as im stuck with a 12month rip.

I'm on O2 at the mo and I pay nowt for the first 7 months, then it's £9.75 after that for their 16mb package. My line will only hit 13mb like but it averages 8mb to be fair though.

They're the best I've been with so far on a BT line.

Never had a problem with Virgin and never been capped by them.

Will get their 50mb line too when it's rolled out in my area. Their 50mb and 20mb will be switched onto another server apparently as well and there will be no capping on either. There is deffo no capping or throttling on their 50mb

Virmin are about to introduce some restrictions though - P2P and torrent applications are going to get blocked.
