Quite surprised that they've shown these. Pretty much like the tv licence or car tax adverts, "If you divvent pay ya gannin to jail coz yarra crim'nal!"-esque.

Then again they've been trying to lead the charge with net piracy i suppose.

where are they showing them?

the boxes aren't illegal. watching encrypted channels is illegal. it could be seen as a breach of contract if you have 1 of these boxes connected (non standard equipment connected to the cable feed or something) IF you have a contract

besides, the engineers aren't bothered. i know a lad who has 1 and his missus called the enginner after it went off 1 day. she then rang her lad to tell him, he shit himself and rushed home - only to find the virmin engineer was already there fixing the dodgy box for her

i have seen this like... there is a "do you know anyone with a dodgy box" confidential number offered for people to call, very benefit fraud-esq.

Was on Virgin 1 last night.

There is also a channel being broadcast that only the dodgy boxes can pick up that shows this message :-

it's all scare tactics for the dodgy people out there!
