    Virgin = Cunts

they've Capped me, in a fucking huge way too.

thought it was my wireless playing up - but i've plugged it in from the modem and it isnt,

from 550kbps direct FTP downloads down to fucking 22kbps!

are they having a fucking laugh!

would it be fair game to phone them up and state that the limit is too low for a home which has 4 machines, all connected to the internet and all constantly being used too (Mam and dad's work - email/constant downloading of attachments/uploading/mobile networking, my brother internet gaming freak and serial irc hammerer and me)

it's getting beyond a joke - no fucking wonder we're changing soon!

I pay £37 a month for the 20MB service.. and I very rarely get the 2.39MB down speed.. always seems to be 550kpbs..

Virgin are pissing me off pretty much all the time.. seriously contemplating a switch to BE's 24MB service.. but need to find a way of checking my line connection..

Same, a got aleaflet thru the door sayin upgrade to a packed for £45 a month, n ill get up2 10mb, ive done a few speed tests and its jusrt over 3meg, nd the upload speed is just over 1 meg. Terrible service like what annoys me the most that there technical helpline is premium, not that i ever need to use it but still shan for ppl who dont have a clue.

Im gonna stick with them for now actually coz the way there goin itl be bought over again, maybe by a decent company.

I'm only hanging on to the hope that I'll get upgraded to 50MB when they release it...

I still get a 20MB line.. as checked on speedtest.net but they cap my speed to half a meg.. which when ur used to 2.39 meg is utter shite.

Especially since I could get 24MB BE for less than I pay for 20MB cable.. granted I'd only see 8 - 10 Meg buit still at least it would be a constant 1 - 1.5MB per sec.

Why did they have to change.. surely the fiber optic netwrok can handle the stress if the old copper network can.

    Useless greedy fuckers.

It depends on where you are aswell though doesnt it?

They had upgraded mine to 10meg as a mistake and I was getting about 8-9 meg, now I have 2meg and I get about 1.7/1.8meg

I have no problem with Virgin but I don't download much, when Mick starts downloading his music if he sees a difference then will probably look at BU if its as good as everyone says it is

you don't need a particularly fast connection to download music though. Unless everything you get is lossless.

I can understand if you're downloading blu-ray's all the time :p

but it's cable? it's not affected by lots of people logging on in the local area. i've got 2mb, top speed torrents are usually at 220kb > 240kbs sometimes...

You can get the Skullptura version from TPB/Demonoid, which is a much smaller download that uses some special compression technique. Game has nothing ripped and quality is the same. Only difference is the install method isn't the same as retail.. you have to use a setup.bat which takes about 30mins to do but it saves you time and gb's in the bandwidth department.

Up to you which you choose, but you can play online with the either one. :D

Would be a laugh to get a few of us together online.. since the Unreal Tournament fiasco didn't work out

I think the chances of you actually getting 100% of your bandwidth while downloading are extremely slim to be fair.

It's also gonna depend on your computer speed and other little factors like the max speed your download target/server allows you to use and how many other people are downloading from the same place.

Go here >>> http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk <<< and it'll tell you how fast your broadband actually is.

the trouble with UT, is that all this new computer hardware didn't agree with it  Was I the only one who had 'normal' playing conditions?

I've never got into CS.. I think if you all like racing games, GRID would be a good laugh and a change of scene, as I've only played it on and off for about a month or so.

I'm game for anything though. You can't steal CS can you?
