cheers m8, i'll do that!!!!, u any idea what size labels i'd hav to aim at?????, obviously am not gonna go and email serious etc but havent a clue where to start!!!!!
know theres labels where u pay a yearly fee and get all the upfront promos etc!!!, anybody know any??????
platipus, hooj do it. loads do, just find whichever labels website, and e-mail them and ask? most of the time, if u mail them and ask nicely, they will send u stuff anyway! they are just normal people, and want there tunes to be played! if u want free stuff regularly, u need proof that u are playing to big crowds on a regular basis....
i'll check again and get ya details!!!, don't use the board much, didnt think u had sent them!!!, get one out to ya as soon as poss!!!!!
JOOF have a promo list where you pay a small amount and receive the next five promos through the post before they go on general sale!
Decent promo lists are pretty difficult to get onto, and unless you're playing somewhere actuallyw orth playing, or do some form of respected music journalism (Magazine reviews, etc.), it's gona be damn hard. The best thing to do, is try and get onto distributor lists, rather than label's mailing lists. My mate's on about three distributor lists, and gets promos and test presses from a host of different labels, rather than just one. My lass is on Hooj's promo list and hasn't had anything really worth playing, wheeas Marcus gets shitloads of class stuff direct from distributors. Trance I don't really know any for, but I will ask about for ya fella
Not really much use to a House DJ tho is it? Airtight is also a Hooj offshoot tbh, the best of the three IMO, but I don't think she's had any Airtight stuff.
but it would be usefull to MK-X....who is a trance DJ.... cos if he was on hooj promo list, he could have goldenscan - of our times (super8 mix) by now....plus all the other top class stuff LL have got in store for this year!
Just cos you're on their mailing list don't mean you get all their tunes. Think about how many DJs Hooj/Lost Language/Airtight must have on their roster. Certain DJs do take priority at the top of this roster. I think Amy's had about 5 or 6 tunes from 'em, and she's been on the list about 2, maybe 3 months. This is why I recommend distributor lists. In my opinion, not as much favouritism
i said promo list, not mailing list. you can select what tunes you want from a list, mail them, and they send you them.
