    I use an all in one app, it can rip from dvd or video files on your hard drive. It's called...

    Cucusoft iPod Video Converter + DVD to iPod Suite

    It's not free but it's worth the money as it saves loads of time.

    i tryed it but still said u cant play these files one your ipod cud this be cause i need to change the setting to play pal instead on ntsc?

    Try SUPER
    Its the best programme ive found for converting videos
    I used it for my mp4 player a few years ago and it was spot on.
    Dunno if it'l work for ipod but it would be worth googling it.
