What's a good program to use if i wanted to make a compilation of clips with fades, slow motion, background music and maybe the odd other little effect? I don't want something that's gonna take ages to learn for the sake of some simple needs :p

    Thank yah

Nero Vision express or Windows Movie Maker are both free and easy or Sony Vegas is meant to be good

    Cheers.

Just had a go of Sony Vegas

    Anyone any good with it?

I've got the hang of the basics, but, I have a problem. I've added a video clip and I want to cut bits out and make it into more of a highlight reel kinda thing. Highlighting parts that I don't want, and cutting it out using ctrl + x gets rid of the video, but it causes the cut-off points of the remaining video to stutter when played back. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

it'll be the video you're importing. you want to deinterlace the AVI so it splits the GOP frames in AVI files

I had a right fuck on.. I switched to Premiere which I began to like a lot more than vegas but the only way I could even get video to playback properly in that was to encode to huffyuv lossless avi first. 2 mins = 1gb lol. Apparently premiere uses it's own codecs for editing, and the codecs installed on the computer for the preview/encoding.

Back to Vegas I went.. still had shit loads of problems but it was all sorted out by uninstalling the Vista Codec pack and using CCCP instead.

Note to self: Don't assume you have all the obvious bases covered :dunce:

I was also thrown off by the preview quality of Vegas.. transitions are jumpy and I thought it was gonna be an exact replica of the end product until I actually rendered something.

    Thanks for the help :)
