    Video cables

My dvd player has s-video, component video and composite outputs... I've been using the composite which came with it and now realise this is crap!

Problem is i dont have a swanky new tv (yet) with component or s-vid inputs just a mear scart at mo...

If I get a component (which i understand to be the best quality) to scart video cable does this defy the point and only reduce it again because of the scart?

Its only a temporary solution til I get a new tv with all the inputs i could care for.... :D
