vhuuus to doovdee hello peeps right, need your tech knowledge. What I am trying to do it make DVD's out of VHS tapes, as im sure many of you have done in the past. My dad has bought a Dazzle DVD Recorder which should be what we need to do this. This is basically a USB device which has L and R audio (red and white), S-Video, and Video (yellow) on the front. Apparently it means that the PC does not have to use so much processing power when it records it. What cables do I need? What we tried was a Scart to Video (yellow) and one Audio (black). This blatantly didn't work. I'm thinking I need one like this; here Because it looks like the right one. (out VCR only has Scart output - no S-Video, no audio cables - Nuffin. Now, my dads computer is MINT. It has all of these connections already on the front panel, all memory cards, extra USB slots, L, R, Composite and S Video, and I have successfully done this all before getting video from a camcorder to DVD, so I don't think I'm being silly (PARTICULARLY) Do we even need this Dazzle thing? ps the system even tells you that you need RCA video cable OR S-Video cable and RCA audio cable) but without the VHS having any of these and only a scart im unsure)
if the PC already has some INPUT s-video/audio sockets, then it SHOULD already have the TV CAPTURE CARD that you need - you just need the software - and that cable. Personally, i don't find s-video much better - i'd just get a scart to 3 phono jobbie (yellow-video, red-audio right, white-audio left) that dazzle thing sounds like an external video catpure card
how do I check if I have the correct card??? For instance this computer is so sweet that you can plug an Ariel (a whole new world, a whole new world) into it, and you can tune it in to watch TV. I'm assuming this proves I have the capability. If you look up this Dazzle thing online it will tell you what it is. Its a possibility that having an S-Video cable will actually matter as its home movies to doovdee. It was much easier when I did it straight from the camcorder but I have no idea why. an Input scart is different from an output scart isnt it? and you need 2x audio cables for stereo sound dontcha? MINT cheers my technological friend, I wear my signature with pride!
sounds like the PC has a tv capture card already - you should be able to use that! see what software came with it - if you have Windows Media Centre edition on, or Vista Premium then you can record straight thru that. i think
its got power producer on, and thats what I used to do my wedding video dvd. i reckon ive got it licked like CHEERS YA BIG GEEK
lol, old skool. Tis working now, and have made a doovdee through power producer in colour, so all is well. However...................... when I have recorded on to the dvd I can hear the sound as it is playing/recording, then can play the finished DVD on the computer with sound, but when putting it into the DVD player, it has no sound - i have tried all sound settings on the player, and have tried two different ways, Mpeg and lpcm - neither work on the dvd player. GRRRRRR at technology!
