Venues in Newcastle - Distorted

Hey Guys and Girls,

Looking for a bit of advice from those who know more than me, I've been told by the Distorted lot that they want to move venues as we seem to be getting the same number of people in now (approx 50) on a Thursday night. Now we reach the problems on which clubs want to put a hardcore/gabba night on a Friday or Saturday night.

They are contacting the majority of clubs which we think will put it on,

- The Other Rooms
- The Cooperage
- WHQ

We thought Stereo might of went for it but they phoned back 2 days later and cancelled.

So what I am looking for is if you could think of any late night places (after 2am) to hold the next distorted, I'm pretty sure if your suggestion comes off Ste will throw in a couple of guest list places for you as thanks as we seem to be struggling.

i would have said the other rooms like, mint room and a funktion1. plus theres no doormen staring down at you

whq won't do it mate, not on a weekend. tommy plays his own stuff down there on a friday and saturday and gets a decent number in doing so.

cooperage is probably your best bet, i know james (smith - james909 on here) had a similar kind of night on down there.
other rooms is a decent venue with a decent soundsystem. if they fancy it and you can get the numbers in, then that's an option for you too.
red rooms perhaps?

other than that you're pretty hard-pushed for anywhere on a weekend, especially with something as 'niche' as gabba.

Well I think we are going to try the Cooperage and the Other rooms, mainly the other rooms for the location.

We did think of Baron DN HY but them shutting a 1 stopped us, we are really looking for a later close.

Anyway I'll keep you up to date on where/when we hold the next one, bring on the Gabba

if you were going to approach the cooperage id probs think about finding a night to host a second room or something, as the coop is a hell of a lot bigger than the end.

The Baron has a 3am license - it just doesn't use it all the time.

Redrooms

I'll check baron again, but red rooms is a no no and is only looking for weekday bookings.

For Newcastle's midweek clubbers? Fucking hell that is very fucking 90's

The coop is pretty much booked up and all ready has a night that plays Gabber,Breakcore and loads more underground harder electronic music in Rollies4mice on the last friday of the month.

Hostile plays Hardstyle and hardcore as well as Hard Trance on the 3rd Friday of the month at the redrooms

That leaves you realisticly the first two weekends in the month to get some thing going.

Grenade is second Friday every month at the coop and Cause&Effect and Concious monkeys share the First Friday.

Only option is a friday in five week months but with at least two nights playing similar stuff you might struggle for numbers.

Cheers for the info mate, I'll pass it on, I think it might be better for them to run the night in conjuction with C&E or Hostile but i'm not too sure on how they want to go with it.

I'll be speaking to Ste at the weekend and see what him and Mickey have decided.

theres also stereo, stealth, attic, star and shadow cinema to consider. i would have thought getting another night in and doing a room each would be the best bet tho.
