    valentines nite

    valentines day falls on saturday this yr, looking to take the wife away for the night somewhere but not too far away

    already know of the obvious ones

    matfen hall
    close house
    jesmond dene house

    any others i can look at? good food and rooms..

    Malmaison?

    Stayed there before and is v. nice, never eaten there but the restaurant is supposed to be good

    Failing that seaham hall

    I've not stayed there but eaten there a couple of times.
    The food is spot on.

    nah i wouldnt say howden like but wallsend buffs always has a good turn on and a good bingo

    if only i had a lass for valentines, i think ill do the same as last year take away for one and a few drinks and a feel good movie like platoon or summit

    jesmond dene house is really nice. my uncle got married there this year and the room we had was fantastic. not sure i'd actually fancy paying to stay there though!

    any of the de vere hotels are really nice, they own slaley hall.

    jesmond dene house is cool as is linden hall.

    not that much of a fan of the malmaison - their new hotel du vin on the quayside looks good though.

    new radisson in durham is nice as well.

    park plaza hotel in leeds if you can get down...lovely rooms and a lush restaurant

    the park plaza is decent, the bar downstairs does some pretty gnarly cocktails too, but the queen's across the road would be better for a valentines' do.

    well we didnt do anything for it last yr really and iv suffered for it since, so im making an effort this yr :p

    some interesting suggestions ill check them out. otterburn tower is only 5 mile up the road from me, she'll think im taking the piss :lol:

    take her out for a meal or cook her something on valentines night but book a weekend away in prague or something for later in the year when it's cheaper...best of both worlds...in good books for valentines meal & nice weekend away some where too...

    think im goin to take her to tillmouth park, looks mint, we dont get much time to ourselves so any excuse to get away really, was plannin a long weekend away before she goes to uni anyways

    I took a lady away last winter to the lakes smashed her brazillian pasty all over Windermere

    The nicest thing she had to eat was pikenfurter
