    Using HDTV as monitor?

I have a DVI to HDMI cable to do this, but it isn't working - do I need to change any settings or something?

When I connect it at first it shows the start up screen and the windows logo, but when the desktop loads the tv screen goes blank. Any ideas/suggestions???

    Cheers :cool2:

sounds like its running at the wrong res - windows runs at 640x480 or something during boot, then loads the higher res afterwards

try booting in to safe mode and turn the res up or down

Tried messing about with the display settings but it didn't do anything. Never thought of using safe mode, I'll give it a try. Thanks.

I was thinking of doing this to watch stuff i download on the tv rather than the monitor. Was thinking it would be simple though?

Thought all i needed was the DVI - HDMI lead to from graphics card to tv. My card supports HD/Blu Ray playback and can be used as a dual monitor so was just goingt os et it like that then sue the computers speakers for sound anyways?

Also was a cheaper option of watching Blu Rays rather than getting a stand alone player was going to get the Pioneer drive from Ebuyer for about £70 and use that....

check out my recent problems with HDCP and blu ray playback....

make sure the graphics card > cable connection > TV/monitor support it or you may have probems.

aye that'll do, just make sure all wires are connected and u have the latest gfx drivers, reboot(important) once windows has loaded right click on your desktop and go to nvidia control panel, u need to look on the left for somet like set an additional monitor up (if all cables are connected then it should be listed in a drop down box). im not infront of my pc so cant remember if its on the same page or not but u want to tell the gfx to output in dual view, this means ya can have 2 independant screens, the next bit is selecting the resolutions, if ya have a 1080p tele then set it to 1080p / 60hz unless ya tele is 100hz (u may need to use the scalling tool because some of your desktop might be either overstretched off the screen or not actually filling the whole screen. just select the resize my desktop option and drag the sliders until it fits properly) apply the settings and robs yer fathas brother. like i said im not infront of a computer that i can check on so if your still stuck ill give ya a hand if im on later
