    USB2 Help

my mainboard doesnt have native usb2 support (just 1.1) so i've bought a usb2 pci card, plugged it in, installed the drivers, started the system up. however - it seemingly keeps 'dropping' the usb connection - for example, i tell it to copy files from my camera, which is plugged into my (usb2 compatible) usb hub, which is plugged into the pci card. it'll get like halfway through, and fail during the process... my usb activesync connection for my phone keeps stopping and restarting as well. i dont know what the problem is, tbh... any of you bright sparks got any ideas?

Try checking the website for the manufacturer of your card - see if there are any more drivers available.

Is your card attached to any hubs? If so are these self powered or not?

Try plugging it directly into the card and see what happens, then at least you can eliminate one possible cause.

yeah, it appears to be the hub, strange, as i never used to have this issue when it was attached to my usb 1.1 ports. the hub can be self powered, but to save plug space i never bothered, think i'll hook that up now....

other than that - i have a rogue 'usb device' showing up in device manager - which i think must be the card reader i've put in one of my cdrom bays. but on xp it's not meant to need any drivers.
