USB Port Problem... I've got a pc which was connected to broadband through BT which was working slowly just riddled with crap. So i did a format and reinstall and when running the connection check its not even finding the usb connected modem. After unplugging it all reinstalling it all a couple of times still no joy. Have rung BT help and they recommend 'reinstalling the usb ports' Do they mean the drivers or actualy ports themselves?? (its got SP2 installed so all drivers should be present surely? but the modem is flagged up in device manager has avin probs....)
get the latest motherboard drivers from the manufacturers website rather than relying on microsofts own. Is there any errors in device manager? when u plug the modem in, does it do the usb 'bing bong' noise? do ANY usb devices work?
The odd thing is I used a usb memory stick with no problems at all and that did 'ping' when plugged in. But no such luck with the modem. (Theres only 2 rear usb ports) I have switched over the modem incase one port was duff still no luck. The msg is "the drivers for this device are not installed [code28]"
u got the disk that came with the ISP? put it in, cancel the autorun. device manager, modem, update driver and get it to scan that CD for the modem drivers. is the PC online? i can offer some remote support if u want
