UK holidays wheres the best places to go for a short holiday in britain. somewhere with the best weather and somewhere on the coast? ive heard the scilly isles are good anywere else?
Plymouth has amazing weather in July/Aug/Sept... I also went to the IOW 2 summers back for Cowes Week, had an amazing time & it was absolutley roasting, plenty to do & the beaches are quality
if your after hot(ish) weather then the south west coast is going to be your best bet really. the highlands of scotlands the nicest place i have ever been in the UK, the weather isn't great however lol, when i went in May in 2006 i was doing gauge walking (basically put a wet suit on and walk up a fast flowing gauge) and it started snowing, next day i was mountain biking and i got sunburnt its the wierdest weather you could think of.
cheers lads, been on this rock 25 years and fancied having a look in my own back yard instead of abroad al the time, just fancy a few days here there and everywhere, tent / b&b camera and in the car and off sort of stuff.
Plymouth does NOT have a Greggs. FACT! How would someone from up here survive down there for a holiday Would have to agree on this one.
just got back from St Austel in Cornwall, really chilled place, ace weather, it's right between the eden project (which is unbelievably good, I had high hopes and it surpassed them all) and the lost gardens of heligan (which is also cool) it's where the main train/bus station is for that neck of the woods if you're not driving so you can get the train in from london (about 4+1/2 hrs) and buses to all the places round there (there's deals for return travel + entry tickets to eden etc on the buses) plus it's about 2miles from the sea, and there's loads of small breweries that make ace cider for the pubs, highly recomend it we did it by coming down from the toon then staying a night in london then getting the train across and staying in a b&b for 4 nights then vice versa on the way back just to break up the train journeys if you are driving i'd recomend Mevagissey it's in the same neck of the woods but is sightly more picturesque
