Re: U F C 69 I totally forgot, good job its repeated tonight. I think the next one (UFC 70, Manchester) isnt going to be on bravo, just pay per view on setanta or something. I could be wrong though??
Re: Re: U F C 69 It's PPV only. I think I'll get some cans in and order it 69 was really good. Didn't think much of the diego fight though. Was far too touchy feely imo.
Cant believe what happened like. I thought Serra was gonna get a good kicking but he got lucky, i suppose thats all it takes in MMA though.
Being hard as fuck comes in handy aswell, I missed 69 and I'd already booked up for prague the weekend its in Manchester so cant go. Typical that they clash
I don't think he got lucky like, GSP wasn't getting the better of him at any point during the fight. If it had gone to the floor GSP would have been in trouble but Serra proved, he is still dangerous on his feet if you let him get into arms reach.
How MMA is not banned I will never understand! However, it's entertaining all the same. Watched it for a bit last night.
Mat Hughes seemed canny happy about it all, i think he was scared he would have to fight gsp again to get his belt back. Hmmm now, Zabiela and Fanculli at the dig or UFC 70
It's not. In boxing you're getting batted in the head constantly for as many as 12 rounds. Fall to the floor and the match is stopped so you can get up and take more beatings to the head. Those punches aren't a great deal weaker than those thrown in a MMA fight and when you add up the total number of head shots in the average boxing fight vs MMA fight, I can guarentee the MMA fighter is going to be better off when he's retired.
yeah, as far as i am aware no-one has died in an MMA event, thats a record that boxing certainly can't boast. [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_martial_arts"]Mixed martial arts - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:MacTakumiKOS.JPG" class="image"><img alt="800px-MacTakumiKOS.JPG" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4f/MacTakumiKOS.JPG/300px-MacTakumiKOS.JPG"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/4/4f/MacTakumiKOS.JPG/300px-MacTakumiKOS.JPG[/ame] i believe the overview makes mention of this, and as was said previously, the relatively short fights do less damage than the prolonged abuse suffered during boxing fights.
It's the smaller gloves and the acceptance of kicks to the head etc that make people instantly assume it's more dangerous. Yeah, it's brutal but although there's loads more ways of hurting an opponent, there are twice as many ways to avoid it unlike boxing. *edit: But if you do get a shin in your face you're out cold
On a seperate note, I can't wait to see a load of Pride Vs UFC fights. It would be good if Liddell could acomplish himself as a top heavyweight before jumping in the ring with Fedor Good signs for MMA
I'd never heard of PRIDE before reading this thread (you learn something new everyday and all that) what channel, day and time is it on? Is it as good as UFC? What do y'all reckon?
