Tyne Bridge Abseiling yesterday Anybody see it? It was part of an event called "The Rat Race" which I stupidly entered with a mate thinking it would be easy. Yesterday I did: - a 40 min run around the baltic/tyne bridge - a cycle to tynemouth via walkergate - a mile (ish) kyaking - some small tasks in tynemouth - a cycle back to baltic via jarrow - an abseil off the tyne brige, followed by a bungee run, followed by a climb - then a mission round newcastle city centre to get some checkpoints - THEN if that wasnt enough, a bloody "stairs challenge" up and down 5 nasty sets of staircases on the quayside I managed to get the worst cramp i've ever had after about an hour and a half, and it just didn't go away for the rest of the day. was just sheer pain. But I battled through it and dispite how slow I had to go in parts we managed to finish 32nd out of 52 teams. The best teams did an extra loop which involved going to the metro centre and whickham thornes centre for an assault course! I am absolutely cained today, I can hardly walk I am not cut out for this iron man shit, but the abseil was cool.
Rights mate, it's pain in all directions, calves, quads, hams...all about ready to snap i think. Calves especially!! woke up at about 4 with a proper cramp attack, had to get out of bed and stretch it off Never again
Re: Tyne Bridge Abseiling yesterday nice one !!,,, try go for a sauna or jacuzzi something like that might help cheers
it was no different to any other saturday. just this week they didnt have black and white tops on, or have security guards chasing after them yelling 'stop, thief!' well done for taking part
Well theres always one who has to try and act the smart arse eh. Grow up son! Just wait til the weekend of the GNR, there will be thousands of 'daft twats' running on closed roads. Unlucky! Jase, well said Just a bit of fun at the end of the day. Still in pain
Those nuggets orienteering round Newcastle on Saturday afternoon did look like daft twats though, in all fairness.
