heh this sort of thing is the biggest ballache to do ever! doing any sort of work with video files can become ridiculously difficult and time consuming. first of all u will have to convert all the avi files to dvd format, which alone will take a number of hours im guessing. u can then burn them using nero pretty simply but getting to that stage is from my personal point of view not really worth it.

also u probably wont fit more than 3-4 episodes on each dvd unless u convert them down to a very low resolution which will just look shit on a tv anyway.

Basically unless u know wot ur doing and have a fair amount of spare time i really wouldnt recommend it. i suggest just watching them on ur pc, or u possibly hooking ur pc up to ur tv and watching them that way.

p.s. just starting watching lost myself onto ep 3 atm and im enjoying it :)

    Seriously!?

Its simple. Only takes an hour or so for a movie as well. I use DivX To DVD then use Nero to burn it to the DVD. Haven't had a bad result yet.......touch wood.

only takes an hour for a movie, but thats only about as long as just over 2 episodes of lost. 18 episode is gonna take a fair while!

but yeah sure if u have the time its certainly possible. as for wot to use then anything that converts avi to .vob files should be fine. I think theres something called TMPGEnc or something like that which is good for that (tho dont hold me to that) and then yeah using nero to burn is fine. for multiple shows on one disc i think u can just put more than one .vob file on the disc and it will play them fine after each other. tho again dont quote me on that. im sure a quick google will find u a very easy to follow guide if u run into any probs :)

use canopus procoder to turn em all into dvd format then use tmpgenc dvd author to make them into vob files. once done use dvd shrink to shrink the files down to dvd size (4.45 average).

you will find that you have no fucking chance of getting 18 eps onto one measily dvd... not unless you want fucking fodder quality that will look fucking wank.

I find going into my local branch of hmv and shelling out £49 for a box set of something already screened on telly much easier. :)

Hads on, no I don't.

i'm pleased someone has brought this up cos i too am in the process of trying to figure out what the fuck to do!

i need an 'idiots guide' to it though as, again, i am too a beginner.

ive got shit loads of avi (all roughly 350mb) files that i want off me hard drive and onto a nice cd/dvd that i can watch on my dvd player (which can play wma/mp3/jpeg)

first of all, is a regular cd ok? or do i need to have a recordable dvd?

secondly, ive got divx player 2.6, but can't see anywhere where i can convert the files? do i need an upgrade? and how would i compress the files and get more than 2eps on the disc?

think that's it for my questions, so far!

and i like storm, i've got lots of spare time too!

    why does it amaze you?

you obviously know what to do, so why be smug if someone who doesn't know, comes onto a public message board and asks how to do a certain task? you only learn things by asking....

i wasnt trying to be smug. its just the fact that everywhere u can get said tv shows and movies to download there will almost certainly be access to programs too, so i dont see how its that difficult!
