    TV Licence fee....

been having some interesting debate with my house mates about this. should it be abolished?
you have to pay the fee if you have a TV, even if you dont watch BBC.

there was a debate on TV about it, which sparked the debate in our house.

we are know doing a 'BBC watch', noting down when we watch any BBC, or listen to the radio or anything, to analyse out BBC useage, b4 we continue the debate.

I think that the license fee is a good thing as it gives us arguably the best tv/radio in the world.

It does annoy me however that there are BBC channels that I can't even get such as BBC world news when we are paying for them.

I have written to the beeb about this before but they offered no real explanation.

the BBC does bring us some top stuff, imagine all radio being commercial radio? arrggghhhh!!!

if we stopped paying a licence fee, the quality of all TV programms would fall too. cos there would be more advertising space, and the same number of advertisers, so all the channels would get less cash!

in our house the only BBC services we use are the - radio 1, the office, neighbours, question time. thats about it i think. not much, but probably worth £9 a month...

I think they should have different levels of fees, like Sky in a way.

For example, I watch neighbours, the league of gentlemen, a few shows on bbc2 and easterenders, but i dont ever watch the digital channels and i never listen to any bbc radio station.

    Maybe £100 for the lot
    £50 for TV only
£20 for just bbc and 2

Spot on. The BBC is the only corporation that are still fulfiling their public service remit, albeit on a smaller scale than it used to. C4 is trying but the other commercial channels aren't really. The BBC has a worldwide reputation as a quality broadcaster and we all use it much more than we realise. For this to continue, it needs to be funded from somewhere.
