Trouble ahead ??? Newcastle and Boro are playing on the same night (Oct 21st) in the same city (Athens) in the UEFA cup and UEFA have confirmed it will go ahead
Taken from Sky: Middlesbrough and Newcastle United will both kick-off their Uefa Cup second round phase in Athens on the same evening. Boro travel to face fellow European debutants Egaleo at The Georgios Kamaras, which is used by the Greeks for big games as their own ground is not up to standard. Panionios, who are also based in the Greek capital, will be Newcastle's opponents on October 21 - the same day as Boro's match. Because there are three Athens-based teams in the draw (also AEK Athens), Uefa have confirmed that the North East duo are being forced to play on the same night in the same city.
Could be a very good chance that Newcastle and Boro will be thrown out if this game goes ahead. There will be fooking hell on, UEFA have lost the plot !!!!!
what about Hearts group Feyenoord Schalke Basel Hearts Ferencvaros its like a league of europes football hooligans
These fixtures are going to be changed according UEFA one will be played on one of the free nights dont know which one yet ???
If it doesnt get changed UEFA will only have themselves to blame for not acting on the matter now to prevent any trouble occurring. Tho it could have been worse, it could have been in Istanbul
I listened to the 1st half on metrofm & nowt was said & watched the 2nd half on 5 & Barnes,Nevin & Barton said nowt either. I also buy the Journal everyday & I cant remember reading owt I have only missed 1 live on Sky game + the WBA game due to afterparties
your to old for after partys man no there was trouble in the first half, missles were getting thrown between the two sets of fans it was shown on the channel 5 coverage
No less than three curious red and whiters were spotted - one gent in our end who opted to take the heartfelt advice given to him to have an early night, one in the adjoining Sakhnin enclosure and another misguided fool in a Lambtons shirt on the far side of the pitch, who at one stage in the second half appeared to be getting chased across the seats by a gang of young Sakhnin fans Around 25 minutes into the game came some activity next to the fence, which was picked up the TV crew broadcasting pictures back to Channel 5 in England and given perhaps a greater significance than it warranted in their coverage. From what could be gathered, local fans in the away section got involved in shouting insults at their Arab adversaries on the other side of the fence, from which the verbals graduated to cup throwing and finally led to some to-ing and fro-ing as a few fans leant over the fence to try and swipe an opponent with a hopeful jab. The inevitable pushing ensued with some travellers getting involved, partly for badness and partly in response to a bit of shoving from the small police presence as they sought to contain the incident. However, things soon calmed down when a squad of solders in fatigues appeared, to reinforce a no-go area on both sides of the fence. Thereafter, the only disturbances were caused by individuals shouting incomprehensible insults across the divide before being led away, those on the Arab side seeming to get far less of an opportunity to air their grievances before taking an early bath.
I want to go if this goes ahead. It'll be so much fun! 'Lets see who can throw the can of the Smoggies head' UEFA have totally lost the plot if this goes ahead tbh.
It was actually the Banik Ostrava fans throwing them at eachother :spangled: Lad i work with was sat about 10 foot away apprently as he bought his ticket for the equivalent of £5 from a tout....... Apprently the tickets for the game were 80p and boro sold them for £25
Hahaha, the thieveing bastards. Newcastle paid for the away tickets for the fans for the last away game in Europe. They were only a tenner each, but it's more than what you normally get off them!
