Trial Biking Over the last month or so ive developed a bit of an obsession with trial biking. I dont think i would ever be capable, or have the balls to do anything fancy.. but its amazing none the less. check some of these out.. ryan is sick, i have the ROAM dvd which that clips from i think i posted the tarty bikes vid on here ages ago - also very cool not trials, but i think this bike video is awesome [yt]RQ6JfguD2Z4[/yt]
yeah ryan leechs balance is insane, ive never seen many people ride along such narrow surfaces so accurately. Danny McCaskill is fuckin brilliant too. Do you ride yourself mate? My plan is to buy a decent XC mountain bike, but im toying with the idea of putting a bit cash aside for a cheap decent trially to fuck about on.
i just have an xc bike now for fitness, i dont go off doing crazy leaps of faith these days - 7 miles a day before breakfast keeps me going nicely you could always buy a very smalled frame xc bike and drop the seat for mucking about on - then raise it when you're not playing i used to do that years ago, before trials bikes were popular, and the xc i have now is a 17" so i have plenty of clearance in case i have a mad half hour
Im 6ft 3 and i think getting a frame smaller than 20", although fun, would be a bit to cramped for me day to day. good idea though are the proper weeny trial bikes really light too? , ive never even seen one in the flesh, last time i rode bikes was when i was about 15 on my bmx really. looking forward to getting into XC though. wanna get out properly and head to the lakes etc
aye, i'm 6'2 mate the lad i was talking to in Evans (gateshead) is 6'5 and rides a 15" dirt jump bike - reckons he has to get off when it comes to going up hills, but loves the fact he can keep up with everyone else and leap about at the same time when i got my rockhopper the stem was 75mm, which i've recently swapped for a 110mm and the seat post was on the limit so i changed it to a 400mm jobbie - i can throw it all over the place, but when i want to do my morning run, i have it so its like a 23" hybrid when i bought mine i was wanting to get in to traveling around, visiting the lakes and keilder etc, but everyone i spoke to who thought it was a great idea soon got sick once they realised i wasnt just kidding and they would actually have to get on their bike, instead of just talking about it. no idea about trials bikes weight, i can imagine them being very light, but havnt really had an opportunity to look in to them in detail
A mate of mine who is in the raf is into doing xc he takes other lads from his work on country trecks. seems like a great day out to me. he rides a stumpjumper, cost him bout 1800 quid, nice machine! i think id be tempted to join up with some xc club or something. Its all an idea at the minute like, but once i sort my finances out im pretty keen! ive always enjoyed riding a bike, so this certainly seems a idea like
reminds me of the time i landed a jump (no where near that flight of steps!) and the fucking stem snapped... the gravel made a right mess of my face obviously i never recovered from it
