Trends dying out.. music losing its appeal Been listening to some brilliant old school rave from early 90s... this was before my time, but its still timeless. Just listened to Urban Shakedown-Some justice. Its such a shame that tunes and times we love die out and then another thing comes in.. I know its probably bollocks to think that something can go for ever, but its a shame that a lot of people dont get to experience some of the stuff that is just sublime. Suppose it comes down to whats new and fresh, then things get stale. Guess this thread is pointless when i think about it, im kinda answering my own question here.. I guess we all wish older times were back with us, early trance days etc.. we cant recapture that. But it would be fucking great to have that fresh feeling again. That sense that where you were and what you were dancing to was going to put its stamp on peoples minds
Urban Shakedown-Some justice .... one of the defining tunes of my love of dance music I think the electronica/rave scene in this country was born out of a sense of hedonism that was nutured in less 'capitalistic' times ... .... i think when the chips are down, then scenes like this are born again...... if anything i reckon times are looking more UP than they ever were!!!!!!
If im honest im letting the times get ahead of me, im losing interest in the whole dancing about off my face scene.. well, i do actually like the idea, but it just doesnt grab me the way it used to. I guess we are all in the same boat. there is defining moments for all of us. Lads younger than me. Like adam or kieran for example are bang into the scene right now. And i kinda envy their love for it. Its probably nothing to do with things dying out, maybe im just not up to date lol. Im like a right old grumpy bastard (queue kierans photos of old men).. but god i would kill to get that feeling of new defining times.
Its not the scene though eh .... its your age Doesnt seem to be stopping laurent garnier, carl cox, sasha etc etc Hammering it week in week out is never something i've ever been able to do ever - but even so its a young persons game ... anyone with any responsibility whatsoever is gonna find it a struggle!
decent oldskool is realy the only music that touchs me like . recently i have lost loads of interest in music , basicaly i havent bought records for over a year and i have a decent studio setup which i just cant get to grips with anymore. i became board when i spent to much time away from dj'n and going out . give time i hope to return to them 'good times' .
mate your having one of your moments again. we established not long ago that your not that old, yet even though i'm a mighty 4 years younger i have been more places and such. taken more things and done more stupid things than barry and paul chuckle combined. i've never regarded it as an age thing - more of a 'life-style choice' agreement that you metaphorically sign the first time you get off your tree and dance to some pretty breathtaking music. but then again that's just my opinion. look at thorpy for example - he's not that old, however he's old enough to have been clubbing about from judgement day in the 90's and he's still going strong, and i'm over 215% sure he's not the only geeza rocking it - he must only be about 2-3 years older than you as well?! so in retort, i wouldent worry mate - and hurry up and score some valium, your still proper paranoid ah, and: Just think of what the future could be like man!; Personally, i rekon the wife gives you too much grief mate

I was half cut writing this last night.. not that that makes much diff like. I dont think its the age, i think its the music. I would be still into the scene if it still grabbed me like it used to I guess i just crave the newness of it all lol.
I am 31 and still going out love dancing in room/field to good music with a good crowd. Started out at Rez in 1993/1994 nye and still have the bug. A lot more selective about nights other than if i am soundcrewing. I think the there is something very seminal about early dance music from around 1986-1993 just a raw edge to it and alot of the tracks are very uplifting with out being chessy or cliqued. Still like modern stuff with that kind vibe to it just can't be arsed to go club and` hear one style allnight unless italo or a dj who understands dynamics and just does not mix records that are made to mixed and all of what trendy at the present time.
I rediscovered what is important versus what is not between taking maccas to mine for a cup of tea on sat morning and talking to the earl at the top of a hill at 2am :chill:
