    Top of the Pops Axed

What a shame that this is finally being given the boot. Soon as they decided to shift it from BBC1 Fridays over to Sunday BBC2 - the writting was on the wall. I think it's not as relevant for modern times now with music being available in 20 other different types of media.

The best was always the Christmas Special on Christmas Day from the 80s' thru to the early 90's - full run down off all the top records from that year with a festive twist - it was up their with Noel live from the telecom tower, a bond film and the queens speech to make it feel like Christmas.

    Ahh well... times change

it's just a reflection of the charts though - people used to LISTEN to the charts cause it was POPULAR music that most people liked - now pop music/the charts are mainly 'acts' aimed at kids to part them from their money. it's been so bastardised

Summer '95 - Oasis Vs. Blur was class!

ANOTHER classic moment - Nirvana playing 'teen spirit' live - but doing it's very slowly and accoustic, only kirk played any instrument :king:

Its a shame its been axed - even though i dont watch TV it was good to know shows like that were on at some point.

No doubt it will be replaced with some variation on celebrities training for silly activities and being judged by a panel of other celebrities .... in between lottery draws.

Is traditional TV on its way out?

i hate the "celebrity" culture, i dont see why people care how many pounds britney has lost or what diet jade fat arse goody is on. the vast majority of them are uneducated tossers that make a living out of interveiws and autobiographys. cunts imo

    it's 2 seperate statements.

Oasis/bur WAS '95 - the nirvana thing was probably '92
