Toon winning parker chase Everton appear resigned to losing the race to sign Scott Parker as the Chelsea midfielder heads for talks with Newcastle United. The talented England international has been targeted by almost half of The Premiership with Tottenham, Wigan Athletic, Everton, Newcastle, Charlton Athletic, Aston Villa and Birmingham City all admirers of his talents. With Jose Mourinho prepared to allow Parker to leave in order for the former Charlton man to kickstart a bid to make Sven Goran Eriksson's World Cup plans, a £6.5 million transfer is being discussed. Everton assistant manager Alan Irvine told Sky Sports News that The Toffees, who will compete in next season's UEFA Champions League, were not near to landing one of David Moyes's biggest summer targets. "Of course he's a very good player and it would be great for the club if someone like Scott Parker was to sign," said Irvine. "But we're not close to completing that kind of deal." It is suspected that Wigan boss Paul Jewell was referring to Parker when indicating on Sky Sports News on Monday that he had lodged the highest bid for an England international only to see the player opt to move elsewhere. Spurs had been lining up a move for the Lambeth-born ace as part of their compensation package for director of football Frank Arnesen, who is set to head across the capital to Stamford Bridge. However, the player is tipped to discuss personal terms with Newcastle in the North East on Tuesday. If Parker joins Newcastle it will be a coup for manager Graeme Souness as he looks to reshape his squad after agreeing to off-load several big-name stars such as Patrick Kluivert, Laurent Robert, Andy O'Brien and Aaron Hughes. The arrival of the 24-year-old, who cost Chelsea £10 million, could trigger Lee Bowyer's potential switch to Birmingham City. Get the fuck in
Infact Shearer (New striker) Emre Parker Dyer Bowyer Baba Boumsong Brmable Taylor Given This team is defo a top 6 outfit depending on new striker, With Owen (unlikley i knmow) Would be top 4
why laugh we have finished in the top four more times than liverpool over the last 4 years, we have the money to do so again
logic would suggest the backline will be different - i would expect van buyten to be lining up alongside boum. (and carr @ rb) as for the midfield, emre is left sided, but not a winger. still, positive moves, all the same van buyten emre parker tht isnt the be all and end all of course, but they are good moves.
Van the man aint moving anywhere i reakon i would play talys in the middle over Bramable and i dont rate carr at all
yeah i suppose it always takes a full seaosn to get used to a new club, I think he is great goign forward but poor defensivly, where as taylor is great at the back but maybe not too good with crosses...
he is left footed midfielder, He would not get enar the tem in the middle if we got parker, Jenas, Dyer and Bowyer would be ahead of him
Bowyer looks like he could be on his way to birmingham and i reckon he will playing dyer more up front than centre mid. Im sure i read somewhere hes buliding the team around dyer
i wouldnt know he wipes the floor with bowyer and jenas hasnt been in great form last 6 month dyer was only one playing well towards end of season
Hmmm would still pick dyer and paker for the middle Emre would not jump above those two, i agree about Jenas but he claims he will come good again and souness seems to believe him
i do think hell come good i think its we changed the formation a flat 442 to some thing inventive id go with 3 centre halfs full/wing backs 3 center mids ant two forwards.
chuffed to bits with parker, just what we need a good honest englishman. Still need 2 be convinced wit emre but he was good in me champ man team!!!! were still in need of strikers,,aint gotta a clue who he is lining up (bar owen) any1 no???
i agree, we should play either 4-1-2-1-2, or 3-5-2, with 2 defensive midfielders, one in an advanced 'floating free supporting attacker' role and two clearly defined wingers... have a tight back 3, push the two defensive midfielders back pronto when it's needed. it requires a very hard working midfield but if played right can make for flowing moves and domination of the pitch.
