Toon in shock Lee Clark move From Sky Sports : In one of shock moves of the summer, Newcastle are considering a move for former star Lee Clark. The 32-year-old is a free agent after being released by Fulham at the end of last season and he had been in talks with a number of clubs including Southampton and Leeds. However, Newcastle have now approached Clark about a return to his hometown club and he is now training again with The Magpies. Clark spent eight years at St James' Park after coming through the youth ranks, but a fall out with the then manager Kevin Keegan saw him sold to local rivals Sunderland. The Wallsend ace was instrumental in helping Sunderland to promotion to The Premiership in 1999, but his Geordie heart ruled his head the following summer when he wore a t-shirt with an offensive comment about his Wearside employers. Following that incident Sunderland had little option but to sell him and Clark was snapped up by Fulham, where he stayed for six years before departing Craven Cottage earlier this summer. Clark is now hoping to win a contract with the club he never wanted to leave, although even he must have thought that the chances of him pulling on a Newcastle shirt had long gone. this cant be true, unless this is one of the 'squad' players souness has been talking about. i cant see us signing him or him wanting to spend the last few years of his career on the bench, even if its at his home club probably just training with us, untill he finds a new club
apparently hes lookin for a month by month rolling contract. its the one position they are now more than adequate with their resources available - pointless signin players just for the sake of it
Would you Geordies be happy signing somebody who openly kissed the Sunderland badge on ore than one occassion ??
Aye he's after a month to month contract like people have said and is apparently also currently doing some sort of coaching as well or qualification for it ?!?! Maybe a case here of shouldnt of got rid when they did.... Everyone know's what Clark feels for NUFC which is more than any other club in the world, he showed that as well (regardless of kissing the SMB Badge) when he worse that quality t shirt Clark
Its not deperate if we are looking to take him on as a coach or just let him trian If however we were giving him a contract for a 1st team player (which is NOT gonna happen) I would be very shocked
