    Toon confirm Luque deal

Newcastle have confirmed Albert Luque is set to seal his move to St James' Park.

As revealed on skysports.com on Thursday, Newcastle have agreed a fee with Deportivo La Coruna for the Spanish international.

Luque is now flying into Tyneside to undergo a medical before completing his move to the club.

The move ends a long and exhausting search by Magpies boss Graeme Souness for attacking reinforcements.

Newcastle are in desperate need for forward recruitments having failed to score in their opening three Premiership encounters, and have recently tabled a club-record bid for Real Madrid's Michael Owen.

The move for Luque appears to signal that Newcastle have given up hope of persuading Owen to move to Tyneside, with the club being unlikely to be able to afford both players.

    About time! :D
