    Tips for posting pics..

Seems a few people have trouble regarding the posting of pictures on the forums. I thought since i'm bored and have nothing to do I'd help out a little.

Places you can host your images are as follows:

To show an image in the forums*
Simply right click the picture (on your chosen image hosting site), goto properties and copy the address of the image by highlighting it and pressing ctrl + c. For example: "http://mashed.tollfreepage.com/images/header.jpg"

Now all you need to do is click the 'IMG' button in the 'vB Code' section of a 'New Post' or 'Post Reply' window and enter the address into the popup window that appears (without the quotes).

*Image shack gives you some codes automatically for an uploaded picture that you can just copy and paste here.

If you'd prefer to upload a file using the 'Attatch File' function
Make sure the picture is no bigger than 100kb and/or 540x540 pixels. You can check the size/dimensions of a picture by right clicking it and going to properties.

If you need to make the size of an image smaller, you can use a program such as Photoshop or Paintshop Pro to compress it (quality deteriorates depending on the amount of compression used). You can also use these programs to make the dimensions of an image smaller (also decreasing the file size).

Some decent standalone image resizing programs are listed here: (UniDream PowerBatch is a decent program but can seem a bit advanced at first glance - has a batch function for handling several images at once)
    Image Tools

    Avatars
An avatar is a picture that appears under your name in the forums. To use one go to: "user cp" > "edit options" and scroll to the bottom of the page. Click the "change avatar" button and you have the option of choosing a default avatar or using your own. Images can be no bigger than 20kb and/or 139x139 pixels.
