    tiesto/ armin van buuren

april sounds like it will be a good month for promise with quality line ups and nights. I know pvd has played at promise b4 but are there any chances of getting him back or tiesto/armin van buuren. Every time I c them they are superb. Tiesto at sugarshack may 2nd cud promise get him or others as it is a far superior club. Or does someone know something I dont. The place would get rammed

I wud imagine he or the others r hard to book but I feel if sugarshack cud get him promise certainly could. It would be stupidly busy and people would pay a canny price 2 get in which benefits the club.

mark has already said he finds armin boring, so i doubt he will ever appear.
pity, cos i think he's class.
however, the line ups in my opinion are just gonna keep getting harder and harder, which means im not too keen on to be honest

neither will ever get booked.....dont know why like, cos they are both amazing.

tiestos proggy style would work amazingly in foundation, and it would be packed.

mark says he finds armin boring, but he books hardwick all the time, who plays similar stuff....hmmmm....

The facts say it all. How mant trance orientated clubs are either going monthly/fortnightly/theinking about changing music policy on set nite's compared to techno clubs opening all over the place.

Techno clubs are still selling their venues out, week in week out.

    Says it all really.

it happens all the time in dance music, fashions and phases.
popularity of genres increases and decreases all the time.
techno is becomming more popular, as is hard trance. If happened with prog, remember? but a statement like 'trance is dead' is just wrong.
it isnt dead. tiesto is the worlds most popular dj in the world, not chris leibling.
there are still loads of amazing trance tunes being produced and relased.
some of the top clubs in the country are trance clubs.....GK, GC, passion, GoodGreef, gallery, peach...promise....
just because GC has gone monthly doesnt mean trance is dead....GC isnt trance!
and just because techno is slightly more popular in the uk @ the moment doesnt mean its taking over....
techno clubs are selling out there venues week in, week out, becasue there are only about 4 real techno clubs in england...arent there?
anyway, its all about personal opinion...

and THIS, IMO, is one of the things that is killing club culture in england, people who are TOO loyal to genres....who wont listen to anything else...and think its all a big battle....

isnt there a whole thread about this somewhere?

    whetever...

I do understand different trends within the industry, i work within the industry but for me there has been no real quality in trance for at least 18 months.

Im not just talking about GC going monthly and i dont really understand how you can say GC isnt trance.

Numbers in trance clubs ll over the country and im not just talking about England, its the same in Scotland where as there are more techno clubs opening up here and they sell out more or less everytime.

People used to go to trance clubs and that is why there were so many but sinse the quality has went down hill they are now suffereing and even at worst case senario they are closing down all together.

when i said the GC isnt trance, i meant it isnt the be all and end all of trance. although it was, and still is the main trance club in britain (and the best by miles and miles)

i know you work in the industry, so im not gonna keep on arguning and look like some uneducated clubber idiot, but i definitly dont think trance is dead. maybe the position that you hold within the industry gives u a slightly bias view? just as myv love for trance probably gives me a slightly bias opinion too.

i think that i have my finger on the 'trance pulse' so to speak, and have done for a few years, ive followed its rise and fall, and the clubs that have played it....and i dont think that its dying a all. it just going through a quiet time. i think that UK clubbers are descovering other genres, which is a very good thing! but it doesnt mean that the toher are just gonna dissapear...

quality wise i think the back end of 2002, and the first quarter of 2003 have been amazing for trance. theres been loads of excelent releases from BIG name producers, that have been quiet for a year or so.
Goldenscan, ralphie B (under his midway guise), neo and farina!, as well as loads of new producers comming through - rober nickson etc.....
there are a few new djs on the block too, that are just starting to get noticed and stuff, andy C, stevie G, jon obir etc etc.....
    trance isnt dead....

the clubs arent closing down alltogether....go visit passion, GK etc on a weekend....just because crasher has gone monthly doesnt mean that trance is ending...

    back to work :)

Surely a promoter should listen to what the people want rather than just personal preferences

I was a HUGE fan of trance, when it was good. I stood by trance until the end of 2000 just going into 2001 and i was at every decent nite there was at either crasher, creamfields, Lotherton Hall 99 (Before GCSSS came along) and i have a few tattoo's related to trance that i have now had changed just to look like part of a design. My position maybe does make me bias but i was thinking exactly what im thinking now befoire i started working with Mauro.

Im not all against trance, i still love trance Dj's playing old classics and i will still listen to old trance stuff and i will agree with you that there are a few good trance produtions now coming through again.

If trance gets stronger again i will probably start going back to see Van Dyk but to be honest he is about the only trance Dj i would go see as the rest are really cheesy now IMO.

i guess its all about personal opinion.

i think most of the trance produced back in 99/2000 is cheesy....and i personally think that PVD isnt the best trance DJ, and is slightly cheesy!

tiesto is far better IMO, i prefer his wide ranging, proggy, innovative style. he plays prog trance, and yes, even techno...but probably not real stuff :p
