The USA is ruining Dance Music! First it was ignored by our Yankee friends since it didnt fit in with their stupid obsession with Rap or Guitar based music.... Now we have Paul Oakenfold ruined forever since he went over there and sold his soul.... and now dozens of DJ's are over there lining their pockets (nothing wrong with that) to play to stupid American's who still call events "raves" and think taking your top off in a club is the order of the day and a dozen other stupid moronic things... One topic on an american board was "what tunes are you feeling right now" - yeah right... im really "FEELING" a tune right now you cocks..... All this is having a massive effect on the club scene in the UK - looking over a few DJ's message listings, and they are all touring over the USA or IBIZA this summer, while clubs like Promise are going monthly due to a number of reasons, and ill bet this has some part in it..... all due to the lure of uncle sam and their evil oil dollars. No offence to Americans on other things, you have some brilliant artists in R&B and bands and all that stuff... but I wish they never heard of trance or any other dance music - get the fuck off our music! Anyone else agree with this?
Re: The USA is ruining Dance Music! Paul oakenfold started out as a hip hop dj how on earth has he sold his soul? Americans still call them raves cos they still are raves - some are illegal, some are legal - they play a shed load of hardcore, trance and drum and bass to huge audiences.... I don't get how this is a bad thing? The club scene is very different it strictly over 21 and mainly a house a thing. The reason trance clubs are on the demise in the UK in my eyes is we've had basically the same formula for the last 3 years - so its starting to bore a lot of people, theres also a lot of fresh interesting nights popping up as trance goes out of fashion. I think the demise of trance has very little to do with the superstars playing less over here.
True on alot of points... but the world would be a better place if they had never discovered dance music.
i wish trance would fuck off to the states anyway good riddance!!!!! and don't you dare show your face round here again
they are not dying out... they are waiting for the next superstar dj to come along... but fear not, i shall not keep you waiting for much longer
America isn´t ruining Dance Music, it´s providing the world with more or less the only stuff that´s worth listening to atm, at least House-wise.
its not that i don't want too i get drugs tested at work and thats why i have the tests to prove it any way i never liked ket toooo fucked up if there is such a thing
Re: Re: Re: The USA is ruining Dance Music! Fact: You have to be over 21 to get into the night clubs over there due to drinking laws. Fact: The club scene is much more house oriented of course there are other clubs - but as far as clubs go there aren't many trance jobs. Fact: Superstar DJ's tend to play at the big events - the "raves" Tell me where I'm wrong?
hasn't that RAVE act been passed now? i think it was jus stuck in an unrelated bill and was passed without anyone really knowing about it... how fukked up is that...
Yeah but this is a different act to criminal justice act that was passed here... this just makes it easier for federal government to prosecute any club owner, event organiser, hotel owner, venue owner, organiser of any gathering for 3rd part drug violations.... So if they find a drug problem at your night - they can go after you with ease.
