The State of The Nation Watched the News there (again) and is it me or does the BBC want to put some kind of spin on the bad things going wrong atm? it seems like we're heading towards anarchy soon. collectively today in the news and otherwise the general themes have been; Fuel Prices Increasing Furthermore Food Prices Increasing at an alarming rate More Troops in Afgan Killed People Robbing Allotments for Vegetables, according to them because of the high food prices (i got wrong for bursting out laughing to this morning) A bloke killing pensioners for cherry diesal Apparently in an Employment Tie-Break, you'll be the winner every time if your an ethiopian lesbian single parent. No Hats in yorkshire so basically, if we all stay in this country, we'll go mad - steadily but indefinately.
The petrol increase is totally crippling me, if I travel to our teesside office 5 days a week it is costing me nearly 70quid a week, in january when I first started it was only costing 45, thats an extra 100quid a month! Our shopping bill has gone up from 120 a month to roughly 150-200 a month!!!! Its ridiculous. If they increase the rate of inflation to be in line with the fuel/food increases it will never steady so we have to suffer until it calms down! AND... all this equality at work! I agree with women being paid the same as men doing the same job but I wouldn't be very happy if I went for a job, the candidates being myself and say 2 men and only being offered the job because Im female, I want the job because I am the right person for it!
the price increases are tough for us but at least we can try to use less petrol /get a smaller car, eat cheaper food, travel less, go out less if we have to. pity the poor buggers in the third world who are going to starve because of these increases. It's not the state of the nation it's the state of the world. Oil is a limited resource as is food, water and wide screen tv's. We are a little island with not much in the way of natural resources packed full of people most of whom wouldn't last 5 minutes in a chinese factory. As they get richer we will get poorer. we're going to have to get used to it .I'm afraid the good times are over. good reason to party while we can IMO
here here mate, i'm away on frontline duty later this year - i'm gonna party like fuck for the duration
I agree! We might lose a bit of our pocket money and not be able to gan out clubbing twice a week. where as they're probably gonna starve to death. We need to wake up and smell the kwoffee
It's ok for you and ya fatha! You have them hens which will provide you with enough eggs to see you through this mess.
opec said theres plenty and they're gonna start drilling more. They reckon the price of oil will go down by the end of the year. Although it's gonna go up again soon. There's plenty of oil but it'll all be under the middle of the atlantic ocean where you cant drill.
I think that people that are holding out on nasty oil barrens unleashing some giant oil reserve that they've been keeping from us are going to be unpleasantly surprised. We're using all our natural resources, the population is increasing all the time, industrialisation is still on the increase and eventually we're going to run out. It might be in your life time and when we do if we don't have anything else transport is going to breakdown and all the economies are going to collapse. Then you won't have any money to buy food because you can't get to work and you're all going to die. and before that, oil is going to be a fucking luxury that none of you can afford.
It's ok cos Shaun, me mate at work, reckons someone has invented fusion, the ability to create power out of nothing. However, all of the big oil companies keep paying the inventor to keep quiet because it would be bad for business.
