The Sofa Has Been Checked & Newcastle United Football Club have upped the Rooney bid by £2 million. " Newcastle have upped their offer for Everton's teenage striker Wayne Rooney to £22m, BBC Sport understands"
tbh I think Newcastle's efforts would be better spent finding a central defender or perhaps renewing your interest in Beattie etc .. I agree Rooney is wasted at Everton but I can't see him moving to Newcastle to fulfill his ambitions. Call me a pessimist, no wait, or is that realist How's it gonna work striker wise? I can only see Bellamy and Rooney starting, will Shearer like that after all his summer whining? If he does sign though then all credit to Newcastle  Does anybody think he really will though even if Everton accept whatever bid?
Bottom line Jackie: this is only chance Newcastle will ever have to get Rooney. Man Utd dont have the cash this financial year, Arsenals money is tied up & Liverpool are keeping there cash for Stanley Park. I am realist & realise if we sign Rooney & he maintains his progress he will be @ Newcastle for about 3 to 4 seasons max & then he will go to Madrid,Man Ure or Milan. As for will he sign for Newcastle if Everton accept the bid? ERR YES! I would be astonished if one Freddy Shepherds best mates Paul Stretford (Rooneys agent) hasnt already okayed the deal & agreed approx personal terms.
Probs show up at Boro then @Spence: You make some good points but I honesty can't see Newcastle as much of a step up for him at the moment.
Couldnt agree more fella, Newcastle arent daft even if we look it sometimes, they couldnt of picked a better time to bid for Rooney imo, Everton are deperate for cash, Man Utd and the other clubs cant afford him right nowand all the stuff about rooney and hookers has potentially brought the price down. Apparently a rooney bid has been on the cards for ages and it was just the finances that were holdign it up and when real came in for Woodgate they couldnt turn it down especially after Man Utd and Arsenal were already sniffing around.
I forgot to mention Chelski the fat lad couldnt handle the bright lights of Londan tawn - so that is a no-go
