depends what kinda music you want to make - house/techhouse/minimal etc fits usually between 125-130bpm sometimes slower/faster

more bangin stuff usually 140bpm + or the evil twisted bangin shit 160-180bpm

No 'rules' really - most changes happen after every couple of bars

If it sounds right keep it in:D

    4 kicks = 1 bar

If its trance then you'll probs have 8/16/32 bars before a change

Somthin sound more tight and punchy like tech stuff is probs 2/4/8 bars before a change

tbh though it varies dependin on the producer so id go with how it sounded/felt rather than count the bars

So whats all this 4/4 banter? Is that because something usually dramatically happens in a tune after every 16 beats?

    4/4 = 4beats for every bar
3/4 = 3beats for every bar (like swing n that)
    2/4 = 2etc

you dont get 8/4 (8 beats in a bar) just 2 bars of 4/4

    :cool2:

i know it is 4 beats, but i count 32, well when i started anyway, i used to count 8 beats 4 times. but after that you dont even need to count you can just tell by the track.
