    The Royle Family

Anyone just watched this on BBC1?

What an absolute pile of shit. Strayed away completely from the usual comedy and instead turned the best part of an hour into sentiments from granny. Total waste of time even showing it. I don't think anyone cared what was going to happen to granny, or what the kids were going to look like 5 years down the line, or if denise was ever going to have a second kid.

I'd prefer if it was a spacer to get everyone up to date with what's happening from the start of the next series but I have a funny feeling there is no new series. It was like an answer for a load of people wondering what was happening with the new members of the family or when granny was going to die.

Absolutely no point in it seeing as the majority was grim.. granny dies.. no humour linked in with it. Shit music sepearating points in time.

I didn't even know it was on until I went downstairs and seen it on the TV. I didn't realise Caroline Aherne was going to write another. I'll have to downlaod it.

    Re: The Royle Family

Sorry i disagree with everything that you just said.

A family member dying is a massive thing in royle family as the shows based around there normal day to day life . There were loads of jokes into in too that were really funny and the lot of the "shit music" in your words was Jonney Cash.

    Re: Re: The Royle Family

I know. I like some Johnny Cash but it came after every scene. I didn't see the point in this at all though. It would have been a massive thing if it was at the end of the series but why do it now? 6 years later? Did someone think "Ahah! lets put a one of show on so granny can die."

Wouldn't you have prefereed a one off episode like they used to be? This was more like an episode of eastenders or something.

Colin why dont you write them a nice email and ask if you can write the next episode / series. I'm sure you could do better...

Yeah i'd bring granny back to haunt everyone. And play gabba between each scene. Johnny would be the tea man again too.

Thought it was brilliant myself. Think its the last one there ever gonna make and it ended it well without going to over the top with the sentimental shit.

There was some classic moments in it aswell.. Jim royal never fails to make me laugh.

Re: Re: Re: The Royle Family

Maybe they just thought it was good way to end off the series.

Personally i enjoyed thought it was really funny and lot better than most of the stuff on television at the moment.

    Each to there own though.
