The most trouser filling moment of my career God! Just installed several major updates on the server (it's been left unpatched for AGES) Checked for known issues etc, none reported. So i install them, then reboot. When the network comes back up...half the people could not log back on. Crapped myself Turns out that one of the power cables fell out of a switch, taking down half the network! What a foul time for such a concidence anyway panic over, thought i'd share my ordeal
i once did the classic user error (when not very familiar with NT in the early days) when remotely rebooting servers "NTLDR is missing" *craps pants as server is down and now the shop can't run it's tills* fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck already in the car and starting engine to DRIVE all the way to work to sort it... then remembered.. Disk in floppy drive. doh. ahhh my early years
