sure there have been some new technological gadgets tested in youth tournaments and certain leagues but i cant remember the details.

bad thing is sepp blatter is dead against taking power from the refs in the form of new technology.

Theres already camera's behind the goals int there ???

Just wot they see needs to be linked up with the ref in some way to confirm dodgy goals !!

They tried ear pieces in a few games earlier this season but abanded them as they became broken too easily or more of a hinderence than a help !!!!

so we have issues from people not wanting to take power away from the refs but there has been many examples of dodgy decisions this season, and head pieces are not working I wonder how they will get round this.

In some leagues (can't remeber if it's youth leagues or not) they are testing out a chip that is placed inside the football. This then sends a reading to a computer that enables it to tell if all of the ball has crossed the line or not. The tests are being conducted to monitor it's accuracy so they don't just trial it in big Premiership games which, if unsuccessful, could lose clubs money if a vital decision was wrong and ultimately cost them the game.

 aye think i read it in world soccer, testings one thing... the full implementation is quite a distance away id say.

@moi... refs have always made mistakes, its just we scrutinise them more now due to the sheer amount of camera angles that can see mistakes that 20 years ago would have been inconclusive... the media have infiltarted the game to such an extent that every decision is open to debate and the refs are getting the heat.

the utopia would be to balance the game so the decision was with the ref but simple andfast technology could be in place, and not the american football-esque fannying around over a decision for minutes on end while the corporate sponsers get an advert in.

there are far to many camera angles in football nowadays

you could also argue that it would deter match fixing

dodgy decisions could be put down to refs getting paid by certain teams, by having the cameras behind this could limit this from happening

i dont think the camera angles are a problem. match fixing is a problem... look at the hoyzer scandle in germany... technology could help i suppose.

Thats why i am 100% for it happening

ive seen so many decision go the wrong way and have wondered if theyve been paid for it then it makes you wonder which referees are reliable and which arent

dont think there's match fixing in this country, although you can never be sure as germany proved... but we certainly have a lot of blind bastards out there

Goal-line cameras are just another Sky attempt to assert more control on the game. They only push so hard for it because it'll be their equipment used.

What do you suggest? Would goal-line cameras be used in 1st round FA Cup matches? What about conference league games? Only for Premiership grounds? It's a bollocks suggestion, people just bum on about it when they feel their team's had a hard decision.

Another shit point is the old arguement about how a linesman's bad call can cost a club relegation. No. It's their shit season that's cost them that, not one goal/no-goal decision.

More technology in the game just means it's further and further removed from the grass-roots, jumpers-for-goal-posts image that makes it so appealing in the first place.

if there was it'd only be a minority, its a case of finding the betting rings and exposing them... asia and eastern europe amongst others are full of corruption and scandal, i think most professionally run leagues are safe, using the germany example, the fellah got caught didnt he ;)

aye thats blatters argument... if it cant be used at grass roots then it shouldnt be used at all, ie one set of rules for everyone... its a fair point but i think premiership football is far removed from sunday league anyway and there's far more riding on it... but increased technology would only remove it further.
